Dog Grooming????????

Im wanting to get alittle extra money while im in school by grooming peoples dogs. Im experienced, I do all my neighbors, friends, families dogs for them.
Im not sure what to price small and large dogs for though, can someone give me an idea on what to price for a small dog, medium dog, big dog please

I don’t understand why or how people go by just the size for the price… I mean, okay, maybe it’s easier but there are several different coat types and therefor different ways of grooming, all of which are specifically designed for one certain coat type. Hell, a groomer down the street charges TEN DOLLARS for my NEWFOUNDLAND! I love her, not because she’s a great groomer, but because she prices well! My Newf’s coat isn’t all much to take care of when we do take him in, because it’s usually for a hardcore brushing and a bit of a trim, nothing too much though.

BUT. Let’s say, for example, a Cairn Terrier and a Labrador. Carin Terriers require a different type of grooming for their coat than the Lab does. Of course, however, it still takes time to bathe, clean ears properly and cut nails.

Anyway, grooming is not a ‘get-rich’ biz. It’s a solidly middle to lower middle class biz in terms of earnings. You’ll love what you do, but you won’t get rich.

Growing up in a show kennel, I can tell you the tools are expensive, and maintaining the tools is also expensive: for our breed, it’s around eighty dollars or so to buy them and fourty dollars to maintain them annually. &that’s one breed. (And not considering additional crates or a professional dryer, of which you will need several!)

You can expect to spend thousands of dollars to start up a business. More if you can’t start at home and must rent a building or a table at a salon.

If you want to become a GOOD groomer, I wouldn’t price solely by the weight or height of a dog..
Moreso the length it’ll be for the grooming, or the coat-type (therefor grooming requirement for the dog) etc..
