Seven Great Puppy Training Tips For Brand New Dog Owners by Michael Ford
When brand new owners get past the exhilaration and novelty associated with a young puppy, the thought of how you can train your dog comes up.
Here are 7 tips that will direct you on the way to training successes.
1. Begin at once. Do not delay until your dog gets to a magical age. Whether it suits you it or not, your puppy is checking out his surroundings and understanding how you will be affected by his behaviors. He is looking for instruction about the way the rules operate in your home, and so make sure that you are delivering the correct signs.
2. Stay consistent. Consider what phrases you’re going to utilize for the various dog commands. How will you release your dog? Are you going to utilize dog treats or not? Make sure all people who will be a part of your dog’s training is doing things the same way and your puppy will learn much quicker.
3. Plan in advance. Using a few minutes in advance to plan what, how, and when you’re going to instruct your puppy can make your training easier and more thorough. Just as if you would not want your kid’s teacher making up the lessons as she went along, grant your dog’s education some forethought.
4. Use small sized snacks. When you are going to make use of treats as a reward for favorable actions, make sure that you select very little portions. An excessive amount of of a good thing in this instance can be very bad. Giving your dog too many treats will lead to weight problems with time.
5. Be patient. Your puppy is going to make plenty of mistakes, and so will you for that matter. It’s okay. Always be understanding, and start out slow. Give yourself permission to be imperfect, and extend the exact same privilege towards your pooch. Execute your training periods in a very relaxed setting so that you are not under any kind of time constraints.
6. Keep training short. In a new owner’s enthusiasm, you may try to keep going when your puppy is doing particularly well. Don’t. Teach for a few minutes, then do something else. It is better to do many short training periods throughout the day, than to attempt to group tons of training in in a short time.

Last but not least, explore puppy training classes and products that can add to what you’re teaching at your home.
